Cologne, 03.02.2020 | The smart building specialist aedifion GmbH has completed a seed financing round with BitStone Capital and three business angels. The Cologne-based PropTech start-up will receive a seven-digit euro amount from the financing round of the four investors. The majority of the shares are still held by the founders.

aedifion’s software optimizes Smart Buildings

“Thanks to seed financing, we can now increasingly expand our business and ensure growth beyond 2020. In particular, the new funds will be invested in the further development of our products and in sales”, aedifion CEO Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fütterer explains the investment.

The smart building market is extremely promising: 35 percent of the total energy consumption in Germany comes from buildings. Intelligent systems such as aedifion’s platform are needed to make real estate work efficiently right from the start and to preserve its value in the long term. Energy saving potentials in the use of technical building equipment arise already in the planning stage and continue through the commissioning and the entire utilisation phase. Operating costs are reduced by lower plant wear and tear and the optimisation of numerous processes.

Manfred Heid, Managing Partner at BitStone Capital, is pleased about the investment: “aedifion has the potential to become a key component of intelligent buildings. With its plug and play solution, it is the ideal IoT platform for efficiency-enhancing measures, both in existing buildings and in new construction projects”.

In addition to BitStone Capital, three successful entrepreneurs from the fields of real estate, building automation and ventilation technology participated in the seed investment as business angels.

Since 2017, aedifion GmbH has been dedicated to the automated optimization of modern buildings based on many years of research at RWTH Aachen University. Already today, aedifion’s software solution is used by E.ON SE, ROM Technik or ZWP Ingenieur-AG.
